    Loft Roof Empty Loft Roof

Post by Paul Thomson Wed Mar 25, 2009 2:40 pm

I have ordered a new loft from a local shed builder. I cannot make my mind up between an apex or a flat roof. What are your opinions on this and why do you think either is best.
    Thakyou,

I would always go for a apex roof if the choice was available as it allows stale air to go above the pigeons and can be extracted at both ends of the loft as near to the ridge of the roof as possible.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys.

I am really not sure on this I am 50/50 for both. I was thinking about an apex with a gap at the peak and a cover on it to stop rain going in and stale air to escape. The only issue is that a full apex will be too high. I have neighbours to keep happy an I want it as discrete as I can which then pushes me towards a flat roof. My head is spinning I don't know

Are you on speaking terms with your neighbours? Maybe a chat with them, explaining your dilemma and the fact that you are thinking of their interests may bring the results you require. The Council ruling where I live stipulates a maximum of 2 meters for a flat roof and 3 meters for an apex roof.
